Realised once again how terrible my self-restraint is. I've often made a conscious decision in my head to eat healthy and to eat at the right time of the day... to maintain a better lifestyle when it comes to food choices and forget junk food, namely candy and "instant" stuff.
That resolution starts when I'm not around food, and ends when I see food. That could be anywhere between 5 hours and 0.25 hours. It's currently past 12 midnight when I'm typing this and I just had dinner... rice, dish, plus soup. And some roasted peanuts (unsalted but in shell). And a few kumquats. The point isn't what I ate, because it's actually pretty healthy, but that it's the wrong time of the day when I should be sleeping soon. And the fact that I told myself only an hour ago that I wouldn't eat anything tonight before I sleep.
Failed. T T

But I digress. Next cafe entry: Pablo&Rusty's!
They have a few branches, one at Epping, Lane Cover, Gordon, and Sydney Olympic Park. Went to the one at Epping. It's been a while since I went to Epping for breakfast on Sundays! I used to go before church to Cafe Topiary and it was the only cafe I knew there with decent breakfast and coffee.

It's actually a really small cafe with very limited seating inside and outside. Fairly popular on Sunday mornings, although this cafe doesn't have an extensive menu, it does do fairly good coffee.

As you venture past the counter with brightly lit up displays of sandwiches, wraps and pastries, you get to dimly lit corners with small tables set up, red walls and chalk posters.
I love bacon by the way.

They run out of food pretty quickly, but there were still a few sandwiches (toasties!) and rolls left. This was their Brie and caramelised onion toastie. Melted brie.. hm~~

Chorizo on sourdough. I don't remember their sourdough to be particularly good, definitely not as well done as The Baron, but who can say no to chorizo right? I remember the best chorizo I ever had was at Petersham. I know right, it's one of those stations that you just pass by on the train but never actually get off at. I actually have a friend who lives at Petersham, thus that visit. The chorizo was flaming!! You could cook it yourself right there, it was awesome.
*Ahem* Digressing again.

This chorizo was pretty good though, I loved the capsicum, onions and the potato that they put in. Yep, that's potato, not cheese.

I think the key factor is really their coffee. Pablo&Rusty's do really good coffee and you can tell they put effort in. According to their website, they order a small amount or "micro lots" of a good quality coffee beans that they particularly like soon after its harvest, ensuring fresh and aromatic coffee.

And this is where the barista course comes in. After roasting, coffee beans keeps fresh for about a month in a dark and dry environment, so ordering in frequent small batches is good.

Just cos their water bottle is cute... fat and round.
And then it was off to badminton. I love Sunday mornings when one can simply relax with a good cup of coffee and food before heading off to do some exercise. It's like earning a well-deserved meal and paying for it afterwards~
